A few weeks ago, I told you about our two-year fight in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, to flip a county council where Republicans once held a 10–1 supermajority. It’s a community you may not know by name, but you know its story: abandoned mines, Superfund sites, and fracking pollution that went unchecked for far too long. Most political operatives had written it off as unwinnable. But we didn't walk away, John. In 2023, my team at JanePAC threw its full weight behind local leaders courageous enough to challenge Big Oil. And together, we flipped four seats and broke the Republican stranglehold. The council shifted to a much less powerful 7–4 GOP majority. It was progress. But not victory. Not yet. So we came back in 2025 ready to endorse three climate champions for the Luzerne County Council: Denise Williams, Dawn Simmons, and Chris Belles. We told you that if we could win just two more seats, we'd flip the council to a pro-environment majority. And on election night, something incredible happened. All three of our candidates won their races. The Luzerne County Council is now a solidly pro-environment majority. John, this victory belongs to you. To every JanePAC supporter who donated directly to their campaigns and refused to accept that some communities are just "unwinnable." Together, we proved that change takes time, sometimes more than one election cycle, but it's possible. Because there's only one way through this moment in our history, and it's to fight like hell. Now we have a chance to replicate this success in communities across the country. We have runoffs to win and a special election in Tennessee — our last chance to flip a Republican seat for Congress in 2025.
