John,
Washington Republicans just brought our country into the longest government shutdown in American history. Here at home, Connecticut Democrats stepped up to protect you.
This shutdown put critical programs like SNAP and housing assistance in jeopardy, leaving families across Connecticut wondering how they’d get through the weeks ahead.
Governor Ned Lamont called a special legislative session, and lawmakers moved quickly. They passed major housing reforms to address rising costs and strengthen communities. They provided five hundred million dollars in budget flexibility to shield families from harmful federal cuts. They reinforced the Trust Act to ensure immigrant families are not swept into federal overreach or ICE intrusion.
This is what leadership looks like. While Republicans in Washington create chaos that hurts working families, Connecticut Democrats are focused on stability and real results. Your family’s security should never be used as a bargaining chip, and we are proving that every single day.
Thank you for making this work possible and ensuring Connecticut has leaders who stand for stability, opportunity, and a government that works.
Sincerely,
Sarah Locke
Executive Director
