Below is a personal note about why I dedicated my life to serving this country, and why I’m running for Congress in 2026.

Before you read it, will you make a contribution of any amount towards our 5,000 Founding Donor launch goal? The more grassroots supporters we bring onboard this week, the faster we can get this operation off the ground.

Hi, John, it’s former Congresswoman Elaine Luria. I’d like to share a little bit about my story and my values, and explain why I’m running for Congress in 2026.

I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and joined the Navy when I was just 17 years old, only 15 years after women were allowed to serve on non-combatant ships for the first time.

My lifelong knack for STEM subjects led me to become one of the first female nuclear engineers in Navy history. I spent the next 20 years serving on combatant ships defending American security, from the Indian Ocean to the Sea of Japan to the Arabian Gulf. While deployed to the Middle East, I oversaw eight nuclear reactors and was responsible for training all 700 nuclear operators onboard our aircraft carrier.

When I retired from the Navy in 2017, I was ready to focus on being a mom and keeping my small business (The Mermaid Factory) successful.

Still, I couldn’t shake the desire to do more for my community and my country. I couldn't sit idly by while politicians fanned the flames of division, hate, and contempt for our fellow Americans.

So, in 2018, I ran for Congress. The odds were stacked against me, but thanks to my grassroots team, I won a narrow victory on Election Day. We did it again in 2020. I was even ranked one of the most effective members of the House!

Three days after I was sworn in to my second term in Congress, our Capitol was violently attacked. That’s when everything changed. I stepped up to serve on the January 6th Committee to seek the truth for the American people.

Sure, I was in one of the most competitive House districts in the country, but the optics didn’t matter: It was a question of patriotism over politics. That decision may have cost me my House seat in 2022, but I have no regrets. I’ve dedicated my life to public service since I was 17 years old. I have no plans of stopping now; not at this crossroads for our country.

This will be a highly competitive election. We can't let special interest groups and super PACs decide the outcome.

Early investment will help us level the playing field. My team and I set a Founding Donor launch goal so we can hit the ground running immediately. Can I count on your $25 to help power our campaign ASAP?
