Your story could be shared at Carefest!

Hi John,

My name is Tegan, and I’m a 2025 Care Fellow with Caring Across Generations and a caregiver to my mother. With CareFest starting today, I’m excited to share the story of my caregiving journey.

CareFest is a gathering of care advocates to envision a more caring future — but we can’t do that without our stories. Our stories point us toward what needs to change and what we are capable of building together, building the foundation for a more just, caring, and connected world. I hope you’ll share your story, too, John.

Record a special video message sharing what you love about the people you care for or the person who cares for you, and it’ll be shared at CareFest!

Here’s my story: My mother, Gloria, has always been the sun in my family’s universe. Four years ago, my mother had a severe stroke and now requires constant care. When my mom had her stroke, it threw all of us out of orbit, but we harnessed my mother’s strength and used it to fuel our care plan.

My sister and I decided to take turns providing care, driving up and down California every two weeks. There are tough times, of course, but there are so many bright moments. I still get to do two things I love with my mom: See movies and go shopping.

I learned so much from my journey, and these beautiful lessons are the things I love and appreciate most. Our family takes it one day at a time. Like I’m sure you do, John.

There are more than 105 MILLION caregivers across the country and millions more are care recipients like my mother. Care takes shape in each of our lives in unique ways, but we will all give or receive care at some point in our lives.
