Dear Health Advocates,
Last week, the government reopened after Congress passed a funding package 60-40 in the Senate and 222-209 in the House.
The bill funds most federal agencies through the end of January and some through September 30, 2026 (notably including SNAP), but it does not include any extension of the enhanced health care tax credits, which had been Democrats’ longstanding demand. While Senate Democrats secured a promise from Leader Thune to hold a vote on the enhanced credits by mid-December, there is no guarantee enough Republicans will vote for the bill to overcome a filibuster. Even if the Senate passes the bill, there is no guarantee the House will bring it up for a vote or that the President will sign it.
We know Senators are working to discuss the specifics of a bill, but Families USA and our partners have been clear from the start: Congress must act quickly to pass a clean extension of these ACA tax credits and ensure millions of Americans can continue to access affordable care.
As we said, the fight continues for health care affordability! Families USA is joining Popular Democracy and nearly 20 national co-sponsors for a Save the ACA Rally at the Capitol this Wednesday, November 19, at 11 am in Area 8 (grassy area between 1st and Constitution). You can follow this link for more information. |

The conference will be held from January 22-23 here in Washington, DC at the Capital Hilton. Whether you're a HAC veteran or a first-timer, we hope you can join other dynamic health advocates from across the country to strengthen the movement for health and health care justice.
