Team, by now, you’ve probably heard about my service. I was honored to lead soldiers in three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
What you might not know about are the other jobs I held before serving in Congress.
I come from a working-class background, so like many Americans, I made do with what I had.
At a young age, I started working as an Arby’s Cashier. I worked construction. I served in the National Guard. At one point, I even worked as a rattlesnake wrangler. (Safe to say, I don’t think many members of Congress have had that experience…)
That’s just the beginning.
I’m proud of these experiences because they shaped me to be who I am. I worked to put myself through college. I know what it’s like to put in a hard day’s work and struggle to make ends meet.
My story isn’t unique. Millions of Americans go through that struggle every day. And it’s important that we bring these everyday stories to the halls of power.
Those are the values I bring to my job in Congress. Hard work. Honesty. Integrity. As your Congressman, my job is to represent your values and fight so everybody — no matter the zip code — can achieve their American Dream.
