DSA-LA Statement on Historic LA City Council RSO Vote
|
LA just scored a huge win for renters, taking a major step toward an affordable city for all. The City Council’s new rent cap will save tenants billions over the next decade—money that would’ve lined the pockets of corporations and elites without our organizing. But there is more work to be done! The bigger our movement, the bigger our wins. Democratic Socialism is the mass movement of our time, and it is about more than just affordability. It is a movement for human dignity and liberation. Join DSA-LA and help build it!

Pass the Lynwood Values Act!
|
ICE continues to try to turn local cities against our communities by using municipal resources to kidnap our neighbors and fellow Angelenos. Last month, LA County declared a state of emergency due to ICE’s campaign of terror on our residents, and it’s time for Lynwood to take a stand.
Passing a Values Act in the city of Lynwood will help ensure that city resources are used by the city, and not ICE. Other cities like Los Angeles and Huntington Park have already passed Values Acts which build on the statewide Values Act, and thanks to community organizing, adopting a citywide is now on the Lynwood’s City Council agenda. The council is holding their first (of two votes) on adopting a Values Act on Tuesday November 18th, 2025 at 6PM.
Click on the following URL and follow the instructions to write to Lynwood City Council now and urge them to vote YES on a strong Lynwood Values Act!

Are you new or newly returning to DSA? To Los Angeles? To the Left? Then join us for DSA 101!
At this orientation, we'll talk about what capitalism is, how it functions, and why socialism is ideologically opposed to it. Participants will also learn about the history of our organization and our chapter in particular, the current projects we're working on, and how you can get involved. This is not a lecture, but a meeting for new and veteran organizers to ground ourselves in socialist theory and discuss together how we can put it into action. We're excited to chat with you and answer your questions!

Under orders from the Trump administration, fascist ICE agents descended on Los Angeles to conduct brutal raids at our workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. Join community members and DSA-LA comrades to walk through Koreatown and the SFV to do outreach to community businesses, and make sure they are informed about their legal rights and prepared to safeguard their workers from ICE raids.

Westside: Mass Organizations and Parties
|
Sunday, November 23 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
|
DSA-LA's Mass Organizations and Parties Introduction is political education about DSA's mass organization orientation and how it guides our organizing and politics.
We will provide a base-level understanding of how mass organizations and parties have operated and organized, and how they can serve as inspiration for us going forward. The political education focuses on the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the Congress of Industrial Organizations, and MORENA as examples for engaging in a broader discussion of effective models and strategies for building mass organizations and parties.
DSA-LA's Mass Organizations and Parties Introduction is open to all and serves as a political education building block for those looking to engage in mass politics through DSA-LA.
