As Thanksgiving approaches, so does the start of cockfighting season across the United States. Cockfighting is not only cruel—it’s illegal all across the country. But laws are pointless if they are not enforced.

In far too many places, police do not go after cockfighters, either because they don't care about the roosters, or because the police are outright corrupt, and are protecting the criminals.

That is where SHARK comes in. Along with our partners at Animal Wellness Action, we continue to shine a light on the cruelty of cockfighting, as well as the threat to humans via the other crimes cockfighers are involved in. I am particularly remembering the case of a Tennessee cockfighter who killed three people last year, and then burned their house down to cover up his crimes.

With SHARK's drone fleet, we expose the truth, and push the authorities to act. We have busted cockfights in many places where the police acted only because we gave them our drone video evidence, and they knew we wouldn't let it go.

Even though the year isn't over yet, and we have lots of plans for the rest of 2025 it is already our most productive year yet, with numerous investigations, many illegal cockfights busted, and increased cooperation from police and other good people who refuse to look the other way. With your help, 2026 can be even better - far better.

Particularly if you live in or travel through the Southwest—California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma —we’re asking for tips, leads, and local knowledge. Every bit of information can help us uncover active pits, networks, names, and fight schedules. If we have that information, those cockfights are going to come crashing down.
