Dear Neighbors,

Before you know it, the 2026 Legislative Session will be upon us, and I want to hear from you as I prepare to head back to St. Paul!

You’re always encouraged to contact my office with any legislative issue you may have, but we’ll have an opportunity this week to connect in person. This Wednesday, November 19, I’ll be joining Sen. Doran Clark for a District 60 Town Hall.

Town Hall

We’ll be at the Northeast Recreation Center [ [link removed] ] from 5:30-6:30pm, providing you with a legislative update and answering any questions you may have.

I hope to see you there!

*The Impact of ERPOs*

In my last legislative update, I shared the DFL’s proposals on gun violence prevention measures [ [link removed] ]. Though we put forward legislative solutions in good faith, it soon became clear that Republicans were once again going to choose inaction over delivering results that would make Minnesota safer.

Frustratingly, the special legislative session on gun violence prevention Minnesotans were calling for this fall never materialized. However, that doesn’t mean this issue goes away - far from it. When we return to our regular work in February, these same DFL proposals will still be brought forward, and I’ll be joining my colleagues in pushing for their passage.

Much of what we’re putting forward simply builds on the success of existing laws [ [link removed] ], and I wanted to share the resources available to our community as it pertains to Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs).

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office now houses a specialist who can discuss and support family or household members who have concerns that a loved one is a significant risk to themselves or others with a firearm. If you have concerns about a loved one and firearms, please reach out at 612-348-5073 and ask to speak to an Extreme Risk Protection Order Specialist!
