John,
This month’s election was one for the history books! Across the country, Democrats outperformed every expectation and sent a powerful message of hope and resistance; a referendum on the second Trump administration’s harmful and regressive policies.

We endorsed 23 candidates on the ballot this year, and all 23 of them won!
Every call, every dollar, every door knock, and every postcard powered extraordinary accomplishments across four states this year:
🌊 Virginia: We elected 17 Democrats and delivered a blue trifecta. This puts Democrats in the position to advance healthcare, voting rights, affordability, and more.
🌊 Minnesota: We kept the Senate blue and held the line in the House, giving Democrats the ability to push for climate action, protect abortion rights, and strengthen an inclusive democracy.
🌊 Mississippi: We made history by flipping three seats and ending a 13-year GOP supermajority in the state Senate, while also making gains in the House.
🌊 Iowa: We flipped a seat Republicans held for 13 years and broke the GOP supermajority in the state Senate, ensuring gubernatorial nominees can no longer be approved on a party-line vote.
In total, more than 20.8 million Americans now live in states where Democrats have greater leverage to shape policy and stand strong against federal overreach.

💪 RECAP: Fight for Our Future: States Win
|
Delegate Joshua Cole sharing his re-election journey with Sister District.
|
ICYMI: On Thursday night, Sister District hosted our Fight for Our Future: States Win virtual post-election debrief, where we looked back at this year’s historic state legislative wins and ahead to next year’s high-stakes midterms.
We heard from:
- Virginia Delegate Joshua Cole reflecting on his re-election and what Democrats’ new blue trifecta in Virginia can deliver — from advancing constitutional amendments to protecting fundamental freedoms.
- Wisconsin Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein sharing how Sister District’s support helped grow the Democratic caucus and how we can make history and flip the Wisconsin Senate in next year’s midterms.
- CA–Peninsula Team Captain Catherine Grundmann discussing what organizing with Sister District has meant to her, and why building state power under Trump’s presidency feels both strategic and deeply personal.
“What really sold me [on Sister District] was that I learned that Democrats could expand power even during Trump's presidency. I learned that you didn't need to be part of this $5,000 a plate fundraiser category of people in order to make a difference in these state elections, because they're smaller. So small donations actually make a discernible impact.”

💪 Grassroots Power: By The Numbers
|
Sister District volunteers are the heart of this work — a community that shows up month after month to build lasting power in the states. This year, that collective energy turned strategy into real electoral wins. Here’s what people-power looked like in action:
💰 $800,000+ raised. 2025 was our best fundraising total ever in an odd year. Every dollar fueled our 23 brilliant candidates and their grassroots campaigns to victory.
☎️ 1.3 million dials. Our second-highest call total ever, only the last presidential cycle tops it. These dials helped recruit the volunteers and turn out the voters needed to continue building enduring power in the states.
📆 325 phonebanks and 90 fundraising events hosted by our volunteer teams for our Virginia candidates.
Across the country, Sister District teams built community, showed up for candidates, and delivered the scale of grassroots power that shaped Election Night.
This is how we win — together.

2026 starts now. Next year, we’re targeting Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — states with nested competitive U.S Senate, U.S. House, and Gubernatorial elections. But, we’re not waiting until 2026 to get started.
|
Earlier this year, we announced the early endorsements of 10 rockstar Sister District alums who will be running in competitive races, equipping them with early dollars to build the strongest campaign possible.
With 2026 right around the corner, stay tuned for more updates about our work ahead.
|
That’s all for now, John. We hope you enjoyed reading this newsletter. We’re grateful to have you as part of our collective fight to win permanent progressive power in the states for our communities.
Thank you, and enjoy your weekend!
