John,
While the shutdown and Epstein stories dominate legacy media, one of the most urgent stories in America is barely being covered: the escalating assaults by ICE agents in local communities across the country.
Local reporting has been essential in exposing these abuses — and COURIER’s work is no exception. In the past few days, our TikToks, Reels, and other social content have gone viral, reaching millions. And while the legacy press chases the latest Trump spectacle, we’re making sure this assault on our communities — and on our democracy — gets the attention it deserves.
Because while the national press continues to ignore or downplay the violent, unlawful actions ICE is carrying out across the country, millions of Americans are turning to social media to understand what’s happening in their communities.
One of the most disturbing recent incidents comes from Cicero, Illinois, where a father says he and his 1-year-old daughter were pepper-sprayed during a federal immigration raid. Local outlets reported the incident and our video documenting what happened has already reached nearly one million viewers around the country.
And the story doesn’t end with ICE. Ordinary Americans are finding creative, peaceful ways to show solidarity — from protesters projecting messages onto Spotify’s headquarters after the company ran recruitment ads for ICE, to ordinary Americans placing “RESIST” stickers on ice machines as a small act of defiance. We featured those moments too — and they struck a chord with millions more.
Because this story — the story of ICE’s assault on communities and the people standing up against it — cannot fall off the radar. And with your help, we won’t let it.
Thank you for helping us expose what the national media won’t.
