John, even while the government had been shut down, Trump and his team were pushing a plan to make it harder for older Americans to qualify for Social Security, which could result in *hundreds of thousands* of people losing benefits.
So I wanted to reach out to let you know that I'm working on a multi-prong plan to fix this sh*t.
First, I helped reintroduce the Billionaires Income Tax Act to make the ultrawealthy pay their fair share in taxes.
That’s money we can use to keep our promise to seniors and protect Social Security for the next generation.
Because here's the deal: Working Pennsylvanians are facing high and rising prices while the ultrawealthy and megacorporations game the system to pay next to nothing in taxes. This bill is about basic fairness – if you have billions, you shouldn’t pay less in taxes than your secretary.
And now, I just helped introduce a second bill to help Social Security benefits keep up with rising costs and inflation – the Boosting Benefits and COLAs for Seniors Act.
Because Social Security benefits should keep up with the real cost of living. No one who’s worked their whole life should have to choose between paying for medicine or groceries. Folks earned these benefits.
These are just two of the ways I’m standing up to these Social Security cuts – but I can’t keep up the pressure alone. I need your help to call out Trump’s schemes and spread the word.
