Dear Fellow American,

On the heels of record federal spending, big-spending liberals in Congress have proposed bailing out all outstanding student loan debt!

We must stop spending-addicted legislators like Senators Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and many others who want to completely forgive all student loans.  That is nothing more than a $1.5 trillion dollar bailout for millions of Americans who took out these loans of their own free will at the expense of the tens of millions of Americans who paid off their own or their children’s student loans.  It is unfair, and I dare say, un-American.

Just because these students did not work their way through school, save up before beginning higher education, or haven’t worked since college to pay off the cost of worthless bachelor’s and master’s degrees does NOT make it the responsibility of you and me to give them a taxpayer-funded bailout.

Since our founding in 1984, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) has exposed and eliminated more than $1.9 trillion in wasteful spending.  Defeating a bailout of all outstanding student loan debt is one of our top priorities in this critical election year!

This bailout would be more than just a completely unnecessary $1.5 TRILLION expenditure of OUR tax dollars. It would be a slap in the face to every American who has paid for their own education without government assistance.

And ultimately, it would only deepen the cycle of government dependency and undermine the ideals that our country was founded on — ideals like personal responsibility and individual initiative.

We must let all wasteful spenders in Congress know that we oppose their attempts to throw away our tax dollars on a $1.5 trillion dollar taxpayer-funded student loan bailout. Please sign this national petition today.
