John,

As a combat veteran, I learned that trust in authority grows from accountability and respect for the people you serve.

Every officer who swears an oath carries a responsibility to protect their community and uphold the law.

When those in power cross that line, it falls to all of us to respond.

Today, I am launching a call to action with Blue South urging governors, state attorneys general, and the leadership of the Fraternal Order of Police to enforce their own state laws and hold ICE agents accountable when they commit crimes. [[link removed]]

When ICE agents assault civilians, destroy property, or detain people illegally, those actions violate state and local codes.

They are crimes and must be prosecuted as such.

Across the country, ICE agents have raided homes without warrants, zip-tied children in apartment hallways, and fired tear gas at peaceful protesters and clergy.

They have broken into vehicles, damaged private property, and detained American citizens during sweeps that never should have happened.

Our state and local police keep us safe every day, from every threat. We trust them to protect us from bad actors within ICE as well. Nobody is above the law.

And we can’t settle for prosecuting after the harm has been done. When ICE agents are committing crimes in broad daylight, local officers have a duty to intervene and arrest them. They must be fully empowered to do so.

Federal status does not erase state responsibility, and state convictions cannot be pardoned by a president.

Every jurisdiction that enforces its own laws strengthens our democracy and protects its residents.

Some state and local leaders have already pledged to prosecute ICE agents who break the law. That courage must spread.

Texas, and every state across the country, deserves enforcement grounded in accountability, transparency, and constitutional duty.

If you agree that law and order must apply to everyone who wears a badge, join me in this action.

Sign your name and tell your governor, attorney general, and local law enforcement that accountability begins at home.
