Scott's Congressional impact. Tuesday, July 14th 2020 Scott's impact in Congress A couple years ago, one of Scott's first meetings as a Congressman was at the Hampton VA Center. There are many incredible people that work there and serve veterans there - but at the time, the center was rated at a 1 star out of 5 stars by the VA's own ratings. It was clear there was a lack of leadership. VA leadership made the decision to transfer poor performing executives to another facility... thereby transferring one center's problem to another facility. Clearly, the VA needed to stop protecting subpar executives and refocus its efforts on retaining the best employees, leaders, and providers across the VA with the proper oversight. In Congress, Scott always identified a problem, identified a solution, and put politics aside in order to improve the lives of Virginians. Scott developed a way to remedy the situation and took action to implement that solution effectively. Scott drafted and ensured the VA SEA Act was signed into law to do just that. This legislation acts as Scott intended, to hold leaders accountable at the VA and better serve our veterans in this area and across the country. I challenge Elaine Luria to engage in at least 3 debates. All 3 debates should be televised and should be throughout the district: one on the Eastern Shore, one on the Southside, and one on the Peninsula.” And what has Elaine's response been?
