We’re witnessing it every day: despite the so-called ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to drop bombs, block aid, and kill Palestinians in Gaza.

In the words of Justice Democrats’ Rep. Rashida Tlaib, “The Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza has not ended, and it will not end until we act.”

That’s why she just introduced a resolution in Congress to formally recognize this genocide and push the United States to meet its legal obligations to prevent and punish it.

By giving Israel $30 billion in weapons over the past two years, the United States has failed miserably in our obligation to prevent genocide. As Rashida said, “Impunity only enables more atrocity.”

It’s time for our government to stop sending weapons to Israel and start prosecuting the officials responsible for these war crimes, so that this genocide truly ends once and for all.

H.Res.876 would do just that, and right now, it’s backed by 20 cosponsors, including every single Justice Democrats-endorsed incumbent: Summer Lee, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Delia C. Ramirez, Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal, and Greg Casar.

Our incumbents have the moral clarity to call a genocide a genocide, but we need to build more support in Congress to make it a reality and end the Israeli government’s atrocities once and for all.
