1) Biden's Inflation Legacy Lives On and On
Polls and election results from last week show Americans are angry about the high prices these days of groceries, housing, rents, health care, college tuition, and even McDonald’s Happy Meals.
And rightfully so.
But angry at who?
The chart below shows a clear chronological pattern:
Trump 1.0 - almost no inflation
Biden - runaway inflation
Trump 2.0 - low inflation
Media conclusion: Trump's created an affordability crisis.
A line chart with the title, "Annual inflation rate (CPI-U), percent."

2) Health Insurers ❤️ the Left
Earlier this week, we noted that the Left loves the health insurance lobby. Now we have solid evidence that the feeling is mutual.
The health insurance behemoths have donated more than twice as much to Democrats as Republicans in recent elections.
A graphic with the title, "Health insurers political contributions heavily skew towards democrats."
Nearly every major insurer gave more to Democrats than Republicans.
A bar graph with the title, "health insurers heavily funded democrats in the 2024 election cycle."
Admittedly, the officially disclosed campaign contributions are only the tip of the iceberg of political influence, and the relatively small dollar amounts donated by the insurance companies are likely dwarfed by their undisclosed political activities. But they make it very clear that this industry has a clear preference for the political party that is obsessed with shoveling tax dollars their way.
Now, maybe the Right will recognize who their enemies are.

3) Meet New York's Anti-Business Dynamic Duo
As if New York businesses don't have enough to contend with as Zohran Mamdani prepares to take over as Mayor, now he's appointed a sidekick business harasser in Lina Khan.
Khan was the Biden-era chair of the Federal Trade Commission, who tried to bring antitrust lawsuits against any business that dared to make a profit. That's only a slight exaggeration.
Her official role isn't defined yet, but it looks like she will be Mamdani's regulator in chief. Khan is already reportedly scouring city and state laws for legal authority to impose Mamdani's radical agenda.

She's unearthed a 56-year-old New York City law that prohibits any business practice deemed "unconscionable" - what Semafor calls "a designation expansive enough to delight any regulator." It's only been used once, but Khan sees it as a way to do everything from cutting the price of beer at Yankee Stadium to curbing algorithmic price setting.

She's also compiling "a full accounting" of all the powers that Mamdani "can ultimately deploy" in office to bring businesses to heel. But how long before they skip town?

4) U.S. Tech Companies More Valuable Than Whole Nations
Nvidia and Microsoft are now each individually larger by market capitalization than any national stock market in the world except Japan. Apple's market value is about equal to China's.
This is called American tech dominance.
It's like watching Katie Ledecky swim against the rest of the world.

5) The Unleash Prosperity Proclamation
Zohran Mamdani spooked nearly everyone with his election-night promise:
"We will prove that there is no problem too large for government to solve and no concern too small for it to care about."
So we've now officially issued the Unleash Prosperity Proclamation:
"There is no problem in America that is too large for the government to create and no concern too small to further screw up."
