This week, countries from around the globe are coming together at COP30 to work towards solutions to the climate crisis and push for the bold action our planet urgently needs.
But Donald Trump is refusing to send any high-ranking officials, in stark contrast to even how he behaved in his first term.
Some are saying this might be a relief because they will not have to deal with Trump’s antics or his hostility toward climate science. We understand what they mean. Everyone is exhausted by the chaos he brings with him.
But this is also a sad indictment of where our country stands. World leaders would prefer the United States simply not show up rather than bring obstruction and climate denialism. That is not the leadership our allies expect or rely on from us.
This is why we need to elect real climate champions who will restore America’s leadership around the world and move us toward a cleaner, more affordable future.
Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
