EGLE invites you to present at the 2026 Michigan Environmental Compliance Conference!
Proposal submission deadline: December 14, 2025
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) invites you to submit a proposal to present at the 2026 Michigan Environmental Compliance Conference (MECC) being held on June 9-10, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan.
The MECC, considered the premier compliance assistance event from EGLE, is designed to help businesses, municipalities, and environmental professionals understand and comply with their environmental requirements in Michigan. Attendees include environmental consultants, engineers, business representatives, municipal employees, and anyone involved with environmental regulations in the state.
EGLE is seeking a limited number of external presenters to augment the 2026 MECC. All primary presenters will receive a complimentary full conference registration.
Requested Proposal Topics
Specifically, we are seeking presentations on the following topics:
- New business: What are my environmental responsibilities?
- How to conduct an environmental audit
- Tools and technology related to scheduling, tracking, and performing of tasks to achieve environmental compliance
- Case Studies
- Environmental compliance (lessons learned, positive outcome, innovative compliance solutions, etc.)
- Environmental remediation
- Due care compliance (creative approaches or resulting in brownfield redevelopment)
- Phase I ESA
- Phase II ESA, environmental sampling
- Restoring or remediating impacted wetlands or surface waters
- Advance Waste Characterization and the use of the Waste Water Treatment Unit and Elementary Neutralization Unit Exemptions from Part 111
- Evaluated Land Disposal Restriction Applicability
- Utilization of the Part 115 Beneficial Use Requirements for Reuse of Materials: Select Case Examples
- Utilization of the Part 111 Hazardous Secondary Material Exclusion
- Used Oil: Characterization, Generator Recycler, and Marketer Requirements
- Land or resource use restrictions / institutional controls
- Environmental Due Diligence
- Responsible party vs. owner/operator responsibility
- Vapor Intrusion
- MS4, Nonpoint Source, and Groundwater Surface Water Interface (GSI)
- Conducting assessments of infrastructure vulnerability to flooding and/or climate change (specifically for industrial applications)

- Threats and vulnerability assessments
- Response and technology in environmental applications
- Climate change, impacts to infrastructure, and solutions
- Emerging Pollutants (microplastics, PFAS, pharmaceuticals, etc.) and innovations in treatment
- Innovations in Environmental Emergency Response Technology
- Incident response and management
- Environmental reporting (determining applicability and compliance -- e.g., Integrated Contingency Plans; Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans; Risk Management Plans; HAZMAT security Plans)
- Organics Recycling: Requirements, Outlets, Market, and Grants
- Scrap Tires: Requirements, Outlets, Markets, and Grants
- Materials Management Planning and Reporting for Building a Circular Economy
Notes:
- All presentations will be 40 minutes including time for audience questions and answers.
- Presentations should not be used to promote, sell, or market a product/service.
- Proposals related to materials management programs are expected to be jointly presented with EGLE program staff and developed with EGLE oversight .
