Trans Awareness Week 2025
Hey John,
Today marks the beginning of Trans Awareness Week, a time to support the trans community through education, storytelling, and advocacy. In 2025, anti-trans bills continue to be introduced across the country. Over 1,000 bills are under consideration across 49 states. Trans and non-binary young people are standing strong, organizing, and demanding change. Now more than ever, we have an opportunity to show solidarity and take meaningful action to protect and uplift trans youth.
“I am helping to build a community where trans people are safe, seen, and celebrated by building bonds with different trans people that I meet day-to-day and throughout the community.”

Here’s how you can join in:
-
Download and share our Trans Awareness Week Toolkit – Packed with information, resources, and action steps to help you raise awareness and advocate effectively.
-
Save HIV Funding – The Senate has proposed to protect these funds, but we need every voice to push back before it’s too late. HIV Funding is community care. HIV Funding saves lives. Sign the Action Form to tell your representative to reject cuts to HIV programs.
-
Attend Transgender Day of Remembrance/Resilience on November 20 – join a vigil in person or online honoring lives lost to anti-trans violence this year. Vigils are often hosted by local advocates at community centers, parks, and other public spaces, with a reading of names of those we’ve lost. Check out this list of resources by GLAAD.
-
Take action to protect trans youth – Educate yourself and others, counter harmful rhetoric, and help create safer spaces where trans youth can thrive.
By standing with trans youth, we’re helping build a more inclusive, compassionate world for everyone.
“Our liberation is intertwined. You must want to topple the same systems that hold your trans friends down, even if you benefit from them. Advocating for trans rights means also fighting for gender equity, racial justice, disability rights, and collective community building.”
