Howdy, it’s John Hickenlooper. I was reflecting on the state of our race and had to get my thoughts down on paper (or in my notes app) before it was too late. I never expected to run for public office, let alone the U.S. Senate. I started off my career as a geologist, and then after I was laid off, I shifted gears to open Wynkoop Brewing Company in downtown Denver. I wasn’t a politician – I was a small business owner who got fed up waiting for the government to fix things. I thought we needed more folks who focused on results, instead of finger-pointing and partisanship. I’ve always said I wasn’t born to be a Washington politician. But this is no time to walk away from the table. I’m running for reelection because we need to bring people together to solve real problems, lower costs, and make sure working families can actually realize the American dream. That’s what we’ve done my whole career, and it’s what we’ll keep doing if I have the honor to continue serving you. So before you close your computer or turn off your phone for the night, I would like to ask if you can donate a few bucks to our campaign today. The path to a Democratic Senate doesn’t exist if we lose Colorado, so I’d greatly appreciate your support.
