Below is a list of resources available to veterans — from housing assistance to education and more. 

 

If you need assistance connecting with a federal agency or service, call my office at 310-831-1799.

If you are a veteran, service member, or family member, the Department of Veterans Affairs has a wide range of services available to those who need support. To view all of their available programs, visit va.gov.

 

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or Veterans Service Organization (VSO) representatives are available to assist you with filling claims or requesting decision reviews. To get connected, click here.

Health Care Services

  • VA offers health care services to support women veterans. To view, click here.
  • VA offers specialized Geriatrics and Extended Care.
  • Some veterans may be eligible for travel reimbursement for trips they take to and from approved health care appointments. To check if you are eligible and apply, click here.

 

Are you a veteran interested in joining groundbreaking research to improve the health and wellness of veterans? The Million Veteran Program is a health research program that studies how different factors affect veterans' health. To learn more, click here.

Mental Health Services

  • VA offers a variety of treatment options for veterans struggling with addiction that empowers them towards a path of recovery. To learn more, click here
  • VA has a National Center for PTSD to support veterans who are diagnosed. To view resources and learn more, click here.

  • If you are a veteran or loved one in crisis, the Veteran Crisis Line is available for 24/7, confidential support.

Housing Support

  • Through their Homeless Programs, VA focuses on ending homelessness among veterans and offers assistance to at-risk veterans. To learn more about their programs, click here

 

If you are a veteran or know a veteran who is without housing or is in imminent risk of losing housing, call the National Center for Homeless Veterans at 877-424-3838.

 

  • VA has support and housing grants available for veterans and service members with service-connected disabilities. These grants help veterans with disabilities live more independently and buy or adapt a house to meet their needs. To learn more, click here
 

Safety and Wellbeing

  • The Federal Trade Commission estimates that veterans reported $292 million in losses to fraud in 2022 alone. VA has a program and service available to protect veterans from common scams and fraud. To learn more, click here.
  • Veterans are able to apply for disability compensation benefits. To apply, veterans must fill out VA Form 21-526EZ. To view the form and learn more, click here.
  • VA pension benefits are available to some wartime veterans and their loved ones. To learn more, click here.
  • VA offers life insurance plans for veterans, service members, their spouses, and dependent children. To explore your options, click here.

  • Under the GI Bill, veterans may be eligible to receive compensation for education and training. To learn more, click here.

  • Make the Connection is an online resource for veterans that connects them and their loved ones to solutions, information, and resources. From connecting with other veterans to locating resources nearby, Make the Connection has a wide range of resources available. To learn more, click here
  • Many local businesses may offer discounted rates for veterans. Don't forget to bring your veteran ID card!
