Dear John,
After more than a month, the Senate has reached an agreement when Jacky Rosen (D-MN) became the 8th Dem to crossover and vote with the Republicans to pass the CR (continuing resolution) and open the government.
The CR was the same one that was put forth several weeks ago - and had zero concessions to healthcare. This is a victory for Republicans! The government will open with no funding for illegals' healthcare.
The dem strategy failed. Even our own senator, Dick Durbin, came forth and stated that the Dems were willing to starve children in order to hold Trump and his policies hostage. He was one of the eight senators that crossed the aisle to vote for the CR.
While there are still more steps in the process to actually open the government and make payments, we have passed the biggest hurdle. This is a win for the people!
