Last night, the Senate voted to pass a government funding bill to start the process of re-opening the federal government.

But this bill fails to provide any safeguards to protect healthcare access for 275,000 Wisconsinites.

That's why I voted against it.

I will not vote for a budget that doesn’t lower working people’s healthcare costs.

I’ll always put Wisconsin families first, and what I've been hearing from Wisconsinites in every part of the state is telling: working families are already being squeezed, and they certainly can't afford to have their health care costs skyrocket.

That's why I've been working in Washington to find a solution that would allow us to re-open the government AND protect Wisconsinites' healthcare. Meanwhile, Donald Trump and my Republican colleagues refused to talk about defending the American people's access to healthcare.

It's no wonder why working people feel left behind.
