[ [link removed] ] [Survey] Should people be allowed to carry guns on public transit?
John-
The gun lobby is at it again, and this time, they're petitioning the
Supreme Court to let people carry guns on public transportation.
That means guns on buses. Guns on trains. Guns in crowded stations. Guns
during rush hour.
Gun-lobby backed plaintiffs have petitioned the Supreme Court of the
United States to strike down laws that keep firearms off public transit,
arguing those rules violate the Second Amendment. If they succeed, it
could dismantle carry bans on public transit nationwide and make millions
of daily commutes less safe.

Here's what the gun lobby is doing:
* A case from Illinois challenges a state ban on carrying a firearm on
buses, trains or in transit stations.
* The gun lobby-backed challengers argue the ban violates the Second
Amendment by denying the ability to carry guns on Chicago's CTA and
Metra transit systems.
* A federal appeals court upheld the transit ban; now the petition is
before SCOTUS to decide whether this kind of restriction is
constitutional.
