Headline: The Longest Government Shutdown in American History

.The Democrat shutdown has now become the longest government shutdown in American history. Americans deserve a functional government, and there are indications that Democrats will finally end the pain they are inflicting on the American people soon.

On Washington Watch, I spoke with Tony Perkins about how Democrat Senators have repeatedly voted against funding the government. The Democrats’ decision not to fund the government is hurting real Americans. You can watch my interview here.

On the Todd Starnes Show, I talked about the shutdown with guest host Andy Hooser. We spoke about the detrimental impact of the Schumer Shutdown on Americans – 42 million Americans are cut off from food stamps. Furthermore, air traffic controllers, service members, and other government employees are not being paid. Democrats owe it to our country to keep our government running. Additionally, I joined Steve and Ted Mornings on Friday. We spoke about Democrats’ counterproposal to fund the government. They include a provision that prevents citizenship verification for taxpayer-funded health care. You can listen to my interview here.

.Foreign-imposed digital services taxes (DST) on U.S. companies are discriminatory and egregiously wrong. Recently, the French government moved to double their DST on American companies. My colleagues and I in Congress will respond with harsh retaliatory measures in order to protect American businesses and consumers and to defend U.S. sovereignty over our own tax policy.

.House Republicans supported and enacted President Trump’s Veteran First agenda this year, both in the Working Families Tax Cuts and in separate legislation. In the historic Working Families Tax Cuts, we lowered taxes so that Kansas families will be able to keep more of their hard-earned money. Additionally, we implemented pro-family provisions that will benefit veterans throughout our country – these include the increased Child Tax Credit and the Trump savings accounts for newborns.

This year, Congress passed, and President Trump signed into law, the VA Home Loan Program Reform Act. This law benefits veterans by modernizing the VA Home Loan program and reducing homelessness for veterans. President Trump also signed the ACES Act into law this year. The ACES Act directs the study of cancer risks for aviators so that we can better protect our service members. We will continue to pass legislation that benefits veterans in Kansas, their families, and improve their quality of life after bravely serving our country.
