First, I hope you’ll let me share a personal note about this race, and how
it reminds me of the other running I’ve done: marathons and other road
races across the country.

[ [link removed] ][IMG]When I ran the Boston Marathon in ‘21, my feet pounded the
ancestral homelands of the Massachusett, the Mashpee Wampanoag, and the
Pawtucket people.

I love running. It’s a way that I honor my ancestors, those who serve our
country, and the landscapes that sustain us. It strengthens my spirit, and
it’s one of the many things that have made me fierce.

In the 20 years since I started running, I’ve learned many lessons — some
more literal than others. Good shoes matter. You fuel for mile seven at
mile two. You must treat a marathon or an ultramarathon as what it is: 26
(or more!) miles.

You must be prepared, take things slow, and put in the work well ahead of
the race. Runners often say that the training cycle is the marathon, and
race day is just the celebration of your preparation — and I believe that!

[ [link removed] ][IMG]I run because my ancestors gave me this ability.

I know you see where I’m going with this. Running has taught me that winning will
require endurance, preparation, and strength. The work we do together
right now will be the defining factor in whether we’re prepared to defeat
the MAGA forces already hard at work trying to flip New Mexico red next
year. It’s why I knew we had to launch our campaign early, and why I’m
relying on continued support from dedicated supporters like you to build a
campaign strong enough to overcome the immense challenges that lie ahead.
And now, we are
officially less than a year out.

[ [link removed] ]Winning this race isn’t something I can do without you. Will you donate
$5 to power our
campaign? Election Day is just the finish line of this race – it’s what we
do today that will determine whether we win or lose.

Since my first marathon, I’ve never stopped running. I run races to honor
people who serve our country, like the Army Ten-Miler and Marine Corps
Marathon. I run to see beautiful landscapes, like the mesas in the 34-mile
ultramarathon in Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Arizona.

Running has taught me what it means to be fierce, and that the things
worth fighting for are worth working hard for. Progress is earned through
perseverance. It is realized by facing challenges head-on, whether it’s in
a race that carries me many miles on my feet, or a run for Congress, or
running an entire department as the United States Secretary of the
Interior.

I’m running for governor to change the game for New Mexico. [ [link removed] ]I would be
humbled to receive your support in the form of $5 donation, especially today, when it will
make the biggest impact.
