Dear City Limits Community,

At City Limits, we are committed to evolving as an information steward, dedicated to serving those most affected by the affordability crisis. Our vision is to continue providing you insightful investigative journalism regarding housing issues. At the same time, as we reflect on the past year, this crucial lesson has become abundantly clear: local journalism transcends merely addressing housing challenges; it is about building connections and trust, and fostering solutions that are guided by the community to ultimately cultivate a more informed and engaged citizenry.

Our recent investigation that resulted in the restoration of $6.8 million in funding for NYCHA senior building security exemplifies the tangible impact that prioritizing community voices can achieve. Similarly, the changes we prompted to help thousands of newly arrived New Yorkers receive their mail demonstrated the profound effect of local journalism that is rooted in the needs of the community.

To better meet the impacted community's needs and bring new people into the conversation, this year, we have launched initiatives partnering with underrepresented adult and youth New Yorkers who are driving change in their communities by actively working to circulate information that fosters a sense of belonging. At the heart of this work lies the understanding that everything begins with relationships.
