On November 7th, more than 80 leaders representing tens of millions of American Christians sent a message to President Trump in advance of his meeting with Syria’s installed president Ahmed al-Sharaa (also known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammad al-Julani) on November 10th.

Since Al-Sharaa got rid of his military fatigues, trimmed his beard and put on a designer suit, there has been a genocide in Syria taking the lives of the Druze, Christians, Alawites and Kurds.

Before he became the President of Syria this was his appearance.

YES THERE WAS A BOUNTY BY THE US GOVERNMENT ON HIM

The former head of Syria’s al-Nusra Front had a $10m bounty on his head for organising “multiple terrorist attacks throughout Syria, often targeting civilians”.

Since coming to power, Al-Sharaa has had quite the makeover:

No More Bounty

In December 2024, the US (under the Biden Administration) removed that bounty off of his head. Since then, the new Syrian regime, after the removal of Assad by opposition forces on December 8, 2024. With the rise of Al-Shaara, attacks on religious and ethnic minorities began culminating in a genocide, especially to the Druze and Christians in Southern Syria in Sweida.

JULY GENOCIDE

On July 13, 2025, the Druze population of Suwayda has been the target of systematic terrorist attacks carried out by jihadist groups, including ISIS (Daesh) and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS); these hits are alleged to have been in coordination with forces belonging to the Syrian Interim Government.

Death Toll

Since August 2025, more than 2,000 Druze civilians had been killed, over 8,000 injured, and around 600 kidnapped or disappeared as more than 45 villages were attacked. Approximately 25 of those villages were destroyed, and approximately 220,000 residents displaced from their homes.

National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL) recognizes the Genocide earlier this year.

The National Association of Christian Lawmakers, led by President Jason Rapert (former Arkansas State Senator) met with a delegation of Israeli Druze leaders that came to the United States in September to advocate on behalf of the Druze and Christians in Syria for humanitarian aid, a humanitarian corridor and to preserve and protect religious freedom. Following those meetings, the NACL passed an emergency resolution to recognize the genocide in Syria to Christians, Druze, Alawites and other ethnic and religious minorities.

This Latest Letter by American Christians is a Demonstration of Support for Religious Freedom and a Need for a Humanitarian Corridor.

The Letter to President Trump stresses the need for Trump to secure from Al-Sharaa a Humanitarian Corridor from Hader to Suwayda in Southern Syria to restore aid to the Druze and Christians in Suwayda who have been cut off from aid since July.

The hope is that this meeting will be fruitful and that Syria will simply not get its sanctions rescinded under the bipartisan and bicameral coalition to repeal of the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act in the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which is supported by the Trump Administration.

More will be revealed following that meeting on Monday.
