I wanted you to hear it from me first: Pennsylvania is now driving out November SNAP benefits. After we won in court yesterday, we moved quickly to get benefits loaded on EBT cards and out the door.
But John, if we learned anything from the Trump Administration’s scheme to freeze food assistance benefits, it’s this: We have a President and a Vice President who don’t give a damn about all Americans.
You know, at least Donald Trump is transparent about his lack of compassion. But JD Vance? He’s a total phony.
Let’s not forget where Vance got his start. He wrote a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there’s a whole lot of people who rely on SNAP. He made millions of dollars by telling their stories — and then he turned his back on those very same people by pushing this SNAP freeze.
Here’s another thing JD Vance pushes: He claims to be a person of faith. But you know what, John? I know my bible. And my bible teaches us that we are to love thy neighbor. That we are to feed the hungry. So to turn around and literally go to court to stop hungry people from eating? That’s not only phony. It’s shameful.
When I see people in my state who are hungry because of JD Vance’s bullshit politics, that makes me angry, John. And that’s exactly why I went to court. Now, because of the hard work of so many folks in my Administration, federal money is flowing again to the nearly 2 million Pennsylvanians who rely on SNAP to keep their kids fed and their pantries full.
Here in Pennsylvania, we’ve shown the nation that compassion and common sense are the keys to real, meaningful progress — not chaos and cruelty. But in order to keep it up, I need your help.
