Dear Friend,

At 38 days and counting, this government shutdown is now the longest in history. Sadly, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer along with the majority of his colleagues continue to hold Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients, air traffic controllers, federal workers, and families using the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program hostage to advance their partisan agenda.

Over a month ago, I, along with nearly every Republican House member, voted to pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR). There are no extraneous partisan policies attached to the resolution. This CR is a clean and nonpartisan resolution to fund the government at its current levels through November 21, 2025. Despite this being the same CR that passed 13 times under President Biden, the Senate has failed to advance the measure 14 times.

The time for political games is over. Since the CR needs 60 votes to pass, we need Democrats in the U.S. Senate to do the rational and reasonable thing and join us in voting to reopen the government immediately. If you or a loved one need assistance with a federal agency or help during these difficult times, please reach out to one of our offices: (202) 225-2331 or (763) 241-6848. We are here to help and serve you.

WATCH Emmer on Fox News discuss the negative impacts Minnesotans and Americans are dealing with due to the government shutdown.

WATCH Emmer and fellow Minnesotan, Congressman Brad Finstad, urge Democrat colleagues to reopen the government immediately. Congress needs to get back to work and the way to do that is if the Senate votes to reopen the government!

Thank you,
