I've said it time and time again, friend:

With Trump and Republicans running the federal government into the ground, we can't look to Washington, D.C., for the vision our country urgently needs. That vision is going to have to come from the states – and last night, the people of Virginia and New Jersey proved me right. 

They rejected Trump-endorsed Republican candidates and voted for Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill to lead their respective states into the future.

And so from here on out, over the next 362 days, I'm counting on you to help me keep up the streak here in Colorado's governor’s race.

Even as Trump and the GOP push through their destructive agenda to give huge tax breaks to billionaires at the expense of working families, they know full well that their policies are unpopular. That's why they're not holding in-person town halls. Instead, they're aggressively gerrymandering House districts nationwide and already working to undermine the legitimacy of mail-in voting in Colorado and other states.

With so much hard-fought progress at stake – from our fundamental freedoms to public health to education, our social safety net and more – Democratic governors are now the last line of defense for everyday Americans.

Virginia and New Jersey are the early bellwethers in the upcoming referendum on Trump's second term. And I'm glad to see that, so far, it's not going his way. But with 36 more governors' races on the ballot next year, Trump and his billionaire donor buddies will do everything, say everything, and spend every last cent they can to destroy the firewalls growing in the states.

So if I'm going to protect the one we've got here in Colorado – and make Colorado the best state to live, work and raise a family – I'm going to need as much help as I can get from folks like you, friend, starting today.

We've got 362 days to build the critical campaign infrastructure, outreach and resources necessary to win and deliver GOP extremists a stunning rebuke come next Election Day.
