This Jubilee Year has already seen some of the biggest global mobilisations on debt in decades. With two major international meetings on the horizon this autumn, there’s still everything to play for.

Hundreds of organisations around the world have joined forces to demand action on the debt crisis this year. Nearly 200,000 of us have put our names to the global Jubilee petition – including tens of thousands in the UK - showing world leaders that now is the time to act.

This autumn, campaigners around the world are rallying once more to demand action on the debt crisis; at the United Nation’s COP30 climate talks and the G20 leaders’ summit. The South African Presidency of the G20 group of nations said that tackling the debt crisis would be a priority. But so far, the G20 – which is dominated by rich countries - has failed to back the reforms needed.

We’ll be handing the Cancel Debt, Choose Hope petition to the prime minister before he makes his way to these meetings. It takes two minutes to add your name – just click the button below and help make it too big to ignore.

Thanks to incredible campaigning from activists here and around the world this year, the pressure is mounting on the UK government to act. Just last week, the first minister voiced the Scottish government’s support for the Cancel Debt, Choose Hope campaign! ([link removed])

And thanks to campaigners raising the campaign with MPs this year, we’ve heard from scores of MPs that they will support a bill calling for a new debt justice law which we expect to be reintroduced to parliament next year.

A generation ago, campaigners joined forces around the globe and won billions in debt cancellation for countries in crisis. We’ve done it before – we know it’s possible. Together, we can do it again.
