Will history call this a turning point?

Hey John,

Zohran Mamdani’s victory for Mayor of New York City is a historic win. It’s also proof that billionaires and corporate-backed Democrats can be beaten when ordinary people organize.

For the first time ever this year, Sunrise made a national mayoral endorsement, and we are so proud that it was Zohran Mamdani. Together, we showed what grassroots organizing, bold ideas, and the determination of everyday people can achieve.

Volunteers with Sunrise Movement NYC knocked on over 40,000 doors and spent hundreds of hours at polling sites throughout the duration of the campaign. Zohran’s win shows what’s possible when young people and working-class communities refuse to accept politics as usual.

Now comes the question: will history call Zohran’s victory a fluke, or the moment when people-backed campaigns proved they can beat entrenched power and begin a new era for the Democratic Party? That’s up to us.

If you believe that we need more people like Zohran in office, chip in now to help us make history again.

This is just the beginning. The fight to build a democracy that works for everyone is far from over. Winning this election shows what’s possible, but we need your support to keep the movement growing, to elect more leaders like Zohran, and to continue challenging the billionaires and authoritarian forces trying to hold on to power at the expense of the people.

Next week, we are launching our first endorsements for 2026, supporting candidates who will carry forward the same people-powered vision that helped Zohran win.

We need your support to fuel grassroots organizing, mobilize voters, and help elect bold leaders across the country who will fight for working people, young voters, and communities too often ignored by the establishment.

Donate now to fuel the next generation of people-powered victors and keep building a democracy that works for everyone.
