John,
In defiance of two federal judges, Donald Trump is making food insecurity worse for tens of millions of Americans:
This is the first time in history that an administration has failed to make SNAP payments to states in full, even during a government shutdown.
He’s playing politics with people’s lives. But there’s something we can do together.
Right now, we’re collecting funds for nine food banks and pantries in my district, which includes Detroit, one of the poorest cities in the country.
Rush a donation to my Rooted in Community Leadership PAC and 100% of funds donated will be split evenly between the nine food banks and pantries listed below.
These are the nine food banks and pantries that your donation will go to support: Brightmoor Connection, Brightmoor Alliance, and Gleaners in Detroit; Zaman International and Operation Refuge in Inkster; Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park; Elmwood Blessing Box in Westland; and Redford Interfaith and Eagles Helping Hands in Redford Township.
Together, we’re standing up to Trump’s hatred with love and compassion.
Always serving you,
Rashida

John,
Amidst rising grocery prices and Trump’s government shutdown, people are struggling to put food on the table—particularly the children, older adults, and people with disabilities who rely on SNAP.
Many federal workers haven’t been paid in over a month and are relying on food banks to feed their families. The Trump administration is slow-walking court-mandated distribution of November’s SNAP nutrition payments to states, today claiming that it will only pay half of the food assistance owed―even while the administration has access to everything that it needs to pay for food stamps in full.
Our city of Detroit is one of the poorest in the country, and with food banks being stretched to their breaking point, we’re raising money right now for nine food banks and pantries in my district.

The food banks and pantries we’ll distribute this funding to are: Brightmoor Connection, Brightmoor Alliance, and Gleaners in Detroit; Zaman International and Operation Refuge in Inkster; Forgotten Harvest in Oak Park; Elmwood Blessing Box in Westland; and Redford Interfaith and Eagles Helping Hands in Redford Township. All are critical to addressing food insecurity in our communities and helping families survive.
While Trump is prioritizing tax breaks for billionaires over food for vulnerable families, we will keep pushing for a country where no one starves and where everyone can thrive.
