Hi friend,
As Trump and his Republican friends fight court orders to provide funding to the SNAP program, families across Massachusetts and the country are left in limbo. That’s 42 million Americans — kids, seniors, veterans — uncertain how they’ll put food on the table.
I won’t accept that. No one should.
Last week, I joined more than 200 House Democrats urging USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins to use every tool available, such as the SNAP contingency reserve and statutory transfer authority, to make sure families receive the benefits they’ve earned.
There is never an excuse to starve families. A government shutdown is no exception. This crisis isn’t an accident. It’s a deliberate choice by Donald Trump and his allies. It's flat-out wrong, cruel, and beneath the values we stand for as Americans.
I also recently spent time at Our Neighbors’ Table food pantry, listening to volunteers and families who are already stretched thin. Their requests were simple: no more political theater, just certainty and action.
Moments like these are exactly why I'm running for Senate. Families don't have time for political gamesmanship. They need leaders who bring urgency, courage, and real oversight to moments exactly like this.
That’s why our campaign is doing more than just talking:
- At upcoming Seth for Massachusetts events, we’ll be collecting nonperishable, non-expired food items to donate to local pantries across the state.
- And if you’re able, I encourage you to donate directly to one of the organizations feeding families here in Massachusetts — you’ll find a list at the end of this email. Direct monetary donations allow for these organizations to increase capacity to meet the needs of the people they serve, and to purchase most-needed items at bulk discount.
Together, we can make sure our neighbors have the food and support they need, especially while Trump and his friends use them as pawns in his cruel game.
With gratitude,
Seth
