The Ottawa County Community Action Agency (OCCAA) extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who attended and supported the first-ever Game Day for Good: Walking with Purpose, Cheering with Pride event on Saturday, October 25 at Pigeon Creek County Park in West Olive.
The event raised $1,776 to support OCCAA’s programs that help Ottawa County residents overcome financial hardships and move toward self-sufficiency. Participants showed their team spirit by donating in honor of either the University of Michigan or Michigan State University—each contribution counting as a “point” toward their chosen team in a friendly fundraising rivalry.
In the end, Team U of M came out on top, both in fundraising and on the football field, but the real winner was the community. “We’re so grateful to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make our first Game Day for Good a success,” said Jennifer Brozowski, OCCAA Program Director. “Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping families in need throughout Ottawa County.”
OCCAA also thanks its event partners and local sponsors for their generous contributions, including the Ottawa County Department of Parks & Recreation for hosting the walk, and Expresso Books and Beans, Family Fare – S. Washington, and Brownie Bliss for donating coffee, cider, donuts, and sweet treats for participants.
For those who were unable to attend but would still like to contribute, donations can be made online through OCCAA’s main website at www.miOttawa.org/CAA.
OCCAA works to reduce the effects of financial hardship by promoting self-sufficiency and empowering individuals and families to achieve economic independence.
