Friend, in the wake of disasters, conflict, and health crises around the world, Project HOPE’s teams are there to deliver lifesaving aid where it’s needed most. Hurricane Melissa is no different, and our teams are on the ground responding to the most urgent needs.
This catastrophic storm struck Jamaica as a Category 5 hurricane and continued its path across the Caribbean, claiming more than 60 lives and cutting off communities from food, water, and health care. Despite the harrowing conditions, Project HOPE’s emergency response is underway to deliver aid and support to people who have endured the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.
In Jamaica, our teams are distributing hygiene kits filled with diapers, body wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, bath soap, adult diapers, and shampoo. We’re meeting with local health care workers, and in the coming weeks we’ll establish static and mobile health care units to care for affected communities.
These essential hygiene items and medical clinics will help families recover while coping with the chaos left by the storm — and when you donate today, your gift helps power our response to emergencies like this and around the world wherever it’s needed most.
