Dear Friend,

Nearly 42 million Americans depend on SNAP. The Trump Administration has the funds and legal authority to fully fund SNAP in November. Instead, they've decided to only partially fund SNAP for November. Their policy decisions have resulted in jeopardizing food assistance for 3.5 million Texans, including 1.7 children.

I am disappointed we’ve reached this entirely avoidable point.

However, I am grateful to the food banks and food pantries in our community that are stepping up and meeting the needs of families. This week, I visited Inner City Development’s food pantry to meet with volunteers, hear from San Antonians who depend on SNAP, and call on Congress to restore SNAP benefits.

Do you rely on SNAP benefits?

WATCH: I was proud to call on Congress and Texas leadership to restore SNAP funding and keep Texas families fed. Watch the food pantry visit here.

I am working to reopen the government, restore SNAP benefits, keep federal workers paid, and protect affordable healthcare for hardworking families.

Even during the shutdown, my team and I are here to help. If I can be helpful, please don’t hesitate to contact my office if you need my assistance.

If you’d like to stay up to date on what I am up to, follow me on XInstagramFacebookYouTubeThreads, and BlueSky.

Sincerely,
