Continued Government Shutdown
As your representative and as a lifelong small business owner, I know what it means to meet a payroll, sign the front of a check, and build something that lasts. Every day, Americans across this country open their doors, go into work, and do their part to keep our nation strong. They deserve that same commitment from their government.
The ongoing Democrat Shutdown is not just a political standoff in Washington. It is a burden on families, service members, and small businesses who rely on stability to help them plan for the future. My GOP colleagues and I have done our job by passing a clean Continuing Resolution to reopen the government. I have urged Senate Democrats to do the same.
Shutdown Impact on Main Street America
On Monday, I joined House GOP Leadership and the Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler to highlight how the Democrat Shutdown is hurting Main Street nationwide. America’s entrepreneurs are ready to grow, ready to hire, and ready to lead. It is time to end this shutdown and let Main Street move forward.

Supporting Texas Farmers
I attended the Texas Farm Bureau lunch to meet with our local farmers. We talked about the real impacts of the shutdown on access to capital, agricultural exports, and supply chains. Farmers across Texas are ready to work but Washington’s gridlock makes that harder. I will continue fighting to ensure our rural communities have the tools they need to thrive.
Fighting for Texas Ranchers and American Quality
Last week, I sent a letter to Secretary Brooke Rollins at the Department of Agriculture, thanking her for her leadership and her agency’s continued efforts to keep their promises to the American people. In that letter, I expressed concerns about the Administration’s recent partnership announcement with Argentinian beef producers – a move that could significantly impact the farmers and ranchers in my district. Texas ranchers raise the safest, highest-quality beef in the world, and they shouldn’t have to compete with foreign producers who aren’t held to the same standards. I appreciate Secretary Rollins’ commitment to American agriculture, and I look forward to working with her to find a solution that supports our producers and protects the integrity of U.S. beef.

Honoring America’s First Responders
First Responders Day reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who protect our communities. Over the years, I have been honored to meet so many of these heroes. Their bravery and commitment to service represent the very best of our country. From small towns to big cities, first responders stand the line every day so the rest of us can live in safety and peace. Thank you to every man and woman who wears the uniform and serves with honor. America is safer because of you!
In Case You Missed It
I joined Inside Texas Politics to discuss how the Democrat Shutdown is hurting small businesses and working families across our country. Main Street is the heartbeat of America. When government shuts down, it cuts off access to capital, halts SBA operations, and stops the paychecks that keep communities moving.
I had a great conversation on the Inside the Beltway Podcast to talk about the ongoing shutdown and how it is affecting Main Street across Texas and the nation. In our conversation, I made it clear that small businesses have helped us build the strongest economy in the world, and we cannot afford to hold them hostage for political gain.
I wrote an Op-Ed for the Washington Reporter outlining how every five minutes, Democrats’ refusal to act is hurting Main Street America.
