Today I honor the spiritual practice of my Indigenous Mexican ancestors.

¡Feliz Día de Muertos John!

Whether you are celebrating today, or not I wanted to take a moment to tell you more about why this day is so meaningful.
I’m a spiritual person, and so many of my current practices and the way I preserve my health and physical health are rooted in Indigenous practices like Día de Muertos.
When I was growing up there were really no mainstream depictions of the holiday, what it looked like, and how it was celebrated.
I’m so proud to see ofrendas, candles, pan de muerto, marigolds and other flowers, food, incense, pictures, and our celebration depicted in popular culture.
Above all, we can never separate Día de Muertos from memory, culture, love, mourning, honoring, and humanity.
To me this holiday will always be a symbol of how our community cares for us when we’re here, and long after we’re gone.
