Dear John,
For ournext LPE meeting on Wednesday, November 5th <[link removed]>, we are excited to welcome the poet Drew Dellinger, who'spoetry touches on justice, ecology, and cosmology. He is a deeply compassionate and inspiring voice in the times we find ourselves in.
The war economy distances us from the joy and pleasure of a creative life, creating a cycle of dissatisfaction and emptiness that we often fill with consumption. Creativity and culture is the mesh that weaves together community.
We are honored that Drew has agreed to join us for this hour together. We hope you will join us for this engaging and informative conversation.
For those of your who joined our last LPE Meeting <[link removed]>, we were grateful to all those gathered to hear Krista Wyatt, the Director of TimeBanks.Org explain timebanking and answer questions about its applicability in times of crisis. We thank her for her time with us and her dedicated work on this beautiful mutual aid tool. We encourage everyone to explore whether there is a timebank in their local community and to participate in offering and receiving gifts of service, if at all possible.
Want to take action this week? The United States is once again edging toward war in Latin America, and Admiral Alvin Holsey may be one of the few people who can stop it. As the head of U.S. Southern Command, he’s witnessed firsthand the growing militarization of the Caribbean: troops sent to Puerto Rico, warships off Venezuela’s coast, CIA authorizations for land strikes. Now that reports say he’s stepping down, this is the moment to call on him to speak out. Sign this petition <[link removed]> urging Admiral Holsey to use his conscience to tell the truth before another war begins.
A reminder! CODEPINK has an online store where you can buy all sorts of shirts, stickers, posters, and so much more (!). Encourage peace and help support the work we do at the same time.

P.S. There is a lovely new essay by LPE Intern Caitlin Hoyland on our Substack! In her piece, she relates how culture and our place in it emerges from the land. In this thoughtful piece, she discusses indigenous thinking about how to reanimate and contextualize our world through the lens of story and place. Please follow this link to read it and subscribe for free! <[link removed]>
