Last week, President Donald Trump made an announcement from the Oval Office that was a mixed bag.
You signed the petition urging him to reverse his executive order expanding taxpayer-funded IVF and instead champion ethical, life-affirming infertility solutions like NaProTechnology. Because thousands of you spoke up, the White House listened, at least in part.
Here’s the honest update: this is a draw, not a full win.
What We Achieved
- NO government mandate. Employers may offer IVF coverage in insurance plans, but it remains optional. Religious employers and pro-life Americans will not face an Obama-style contraception-analogue mandate forcing them into conscience violations.
- NO direct taxpayer subsidies. There is no federal funding stream paying clinics to manufacture and destroy unborn children with our tax dollars.
- No public money is flowing to IVF labs.
- Root-cause treatments recognized. The guidance explicitly opens the door to covering restorative reproductive medicine, the ethical alternative we demanded.
Pro-life leaders who met with the White House call this “the least bad we could have hoped for.” One told The Daily Wire, “No subsidy and no mandate is a lot different than he sounded last fall.”
Where We Still Fall Short
President Trump is still promoting IVF, a technology that knowingly creates multiple human embryos in a petri dish with the expectation that only one or two will be implanted, while the rest are discarded, frozen indefinitely, or selected from catalogs by sex, race, or genetic traits.
Unlike many European countries, where clinics and governments regulate embryo creation, storage, and destruction, the U.S. remains largely a regulatory free-for-all. Ryan Anderson and others point out that America lacks the kinds of embryo protections or limits that Europe enforces.
The press admits Trump had promised “free IVF for all” but quietly walked it back after pro-life pushback, proving that your voices made an impact.
We prevented the worst-case scenario, but we have not ended the harm. The worst outcome, taxpayer mandates and subsidies, was avoided. But we still allow unborn children to be manufactured and destroyed, and we still permit a system that treats children like commodities or worse, consumer goods.
What Happens Next
Keep pushing. President Trump has shown he responds to pressure. If we stay loud, we can still secure:
- Explicit protections for every unborn child created through assisted reproduction.
- Priority funding for restorative reproductive medicine over IVF.
- An end to eugenic selection practices that treat children like consumer products.
- Protections against commercial surrogacy and “designer baby” schemes in which babies are created, sold, or selected for traits like sex, race, or appearance.
Thank you for making this partial victory possible. Your signature forced the White House to consult with pro-life groups and walk back the most dangerous elements.
Stay vigilant. We are monitoring rule-making at the U.S. Department of Labor and will alert you if any mandate or subsidy creeps in.
Forward this email to one pro-life friend and ask them to stay in the fight. Every voice keeps the pressure on.
