expression on its face.

John,

Over 5 million donkeys are brutally slaughtered every year to make “ejiao”
– a gelatin used in luxury cosmetics and supplements. Some are skinned
alive. Others are bludgeoned to death.

It’s almost too horrific to imagine but now, we have a rare chance to BAN
this nightmare trade!

A landmark bill to ban the brutal donkey hide trade in the US just got
reintroduced in Congress. We’re at a critical moment to make sure this
donkey-saving law passes but we need to pull out all the stops right
now if we’re going to stop the torture.

We’re racing to launch an all-out lobbying push in November, bringing
experts, advocates, and Ekō members into meetings with key
decision-makers! Together, we could deliver the surge of public pressure
and bold tactics needed to win like: delivering our massive petition,
plastering this all over the media, and taking out ads and mobile
billboards circling Congress to take the pressure to boiling point during
our lobbying week.

We don’t have much time. Can you urgently chip in to stop the donkey
torture – and defend all animals from exploitation?

In parts of Africa and Asia, donkeys are beloved, hardworking animals –
they carry water, transport goods, and help farmers grow food. But as the
global demand for ejiao has skyrocketed, donkeys are being stolen from
villages, sold into slaughter, and leaving families devastated and
desperate.

But now, we have a real chance at making sure the United States takes
action against this cruelty – and helps protect both donkeys and the
communities that depend on them.

Ekō is part of a powerful coalition working directly with the bill’s
sponsor and a team of professional lobbyists. After being introduced
several times in prior years, the bill failed to gain enough traction to
pass. But this year can be different because in mid-November, we’ll join
our partners and volunteers in a major lobbying push on Capitol Hill –
meeting face to face with lawmakers to demand they support and co-sponsor
the Ejiao Act.

We know that our people power works because the Ekō community helped get
the Ejiao Act reintroduced in Congress!

Now, we’re throwing EVERYTHING we have at this lobbying push – hard
hitting stunts, powerful ads, and public pressure from our millions-strong
movement – because we know that this could be our last chance to end US
complicity in this global cruelty.

If we can’t get the attention of lawmakers now, millions more donkeys will
suffer – and countless families who depend on them will lose everything.
But we need your help to get it over the finish line. Will you donate
today to help Ekō and our partners pass the Ejiao Act to finally ban the
donkey trade before the end of the year – and defend all animals from
exploitation?
