Friend — next week, voters will head to the polls in the first major
statewide elections since last November. We want to make sure you've heard about
two of them: the governors’ races in New Jersey and Virginia. What happens in these two states will affect ALL of us. Here's why: In both races, the Republican candidate is backed by Trump. The stakes are huge,
because with Trump’s support — now if they lose, it sends a clear message to EVERY Republican that Trump’s ban on
clean energy is a loser at the ballot box.  Once the drilling starts, we cannot undo the damage.  Defeating Trump’s favored candidates on Tuesday would send shock wavesthrough Washington, D.C. — and make members of Congress think twice about giving
Trump a blank check to implement his dirty agenda that will further raise
costs.  Here’s a rundown on these races — and what our movement is doing to win: New Jersey Governor One of the most closely watched races in the country is in New Jersey, where
Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill, a former Navy pilot first elected to Congress in
2018, is facing off against MAGA Republican Jack Ciattarelli. New Jerseyans are facing some of the nation’s largest increases to utility bills
after Trump gutted a host of clean energy tax credits and projects in the
Republican Budget Bill. Trump’s favored candidate, Jack Ciattarelli, has proposed plans that will raise
bills even higher by taking clean energy like offshore wind off of the energy
grid.  New Jersey LCV Victory Fund and our partners are going BIG to expose Jack Ciatarelli’s dirty energy policies and their impact on New Jersey
families. This is the largest electoral investment in a statewide campaign in
New Jersey LCV Victory Fund’s history, making them one of the top spenders in
the race. Virginia Governor Energy costs are also dominating the headlines and airwaves in the Virginia governor's race. The
proliferation of electricity-hogging data centers in Virginia — which is now home to over a third of data centers worldwide — has caused energy rates to skyrocket.  MAGA candidate Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Searshas promised to gut Virginia’s landmark clean energy law. Former Democratic Rep.
Abigail Spanberger, on the other hand, has pushed to tackle costs by expanding
renewable energy generation, and getting data centers to pay their fair share. Our state affiliate in Virginia — Virginia LCV PAC — is running a large-scale
canvass program knocking on more than 200,000 doors to talk with voters about
the issues that matter to them, including energy costs, and making sure they
know the stakes of this election. The environmental movement is going all out in these races, Friend. If we can pull off a big win, it will send a clear message to candidates around
the country: If you back Trump’s corrupt agenda, you will be defeated at the ballot box. And
if you stand for clean energy and lowering costs, you will win. These elections will lay the groundwork for a huge push in the critical 2026
election cycle. If you’re feeling inspired, please — chip in and help LCV Victory Fund defeat polluter-backed politicians. Make a
