As a favor to his corporate donors, Trump wants to keep a failing industry alive at the expense of our public health, clean air and water, and our changing climate: [link removed]

Dear Friend,
Once again, Trump is abusing the power of the federal government at a historic scale.
This time, the Trump administration is trying to resurrect the failing coal industry to prop up corporate polluters. Its heinous tactics include a public lands sell-off, gutting our air and water protections, handing out $625 million in taxpayer-funded subsidies to coal companies, and forcing aging coal plants to keep running. We will pay the price through higher electricity bills and toxic pollution.
Tell the Trump administration: we need to invest in clean energy sources and keep coal in the ground!
Solar and wind now produce more electricity in the U.S. than coal, which generates just 15% of American electricity. Yet Trump wants to halt the buildout of clean energy and subsidize one of the most polluting, dangerous, and more expensive way to produce power — granting the requests of a handful of mining and utility CEOs.
Expanding mining and spending taxpayer money on burning coal, while rolling back vital health protections, will only exacerbate the deadly pollution and rising energy bills that communities are facing across the country.
Clean energy is now cheaper than coal in many places, and investing in it helps to keep down electricity costs for Americans. Wind, solar, and batteries could replace the nation’s aging coal plants without the pollution that comes with them. Unlike wind and solar energy, fossil fuel plants cause tremendous health and environmental harm. If we are forced to subsidize them through our electricity bills, utilities and their investors will profit at our expense — but only if we allow polluters to get their way.
Don’t let American taxpayers pick up the tab for a failing industry, and don’t let the Trump administration ravage our lands and waters for the dirtiest form of energy while attacking clean, affordable alternatives.
