Houston DSA

Día de los Muertos, Canvass Our Communities, Immigration Red Ed, Community Gardening, and more!

Howdy comrades!

We have an exciting next couple of weeks for Houston DSA this November! From canvassing and garden opportunities, Día De Los Muertos, to film screenings and Fall Celebration Potluck - we are booked and busy!

Presente! Commemorate our martyrs on Día de los Muertos this Saturday, November 1st at Burnett Bayland Park

Día De Muertos is a holiday deeply rooted in Mexican indigenous practices, dedicated to celebrating those who have passed away. Each year, we continue this practice by building altars with photographs of our loved ones. In ceremonies attendees say “presente” or “present” to honor that these individuals are still with us, in our actions and our collective spirit.

Join Houston DSA, CRECEN, and Madres del Parque this Saturday, Nov. 1st to honor and celebrate those that have lost their lives in the struggle for a better world.

Canvass across Greater Houston to inform and engage people in the fight for our immigrant communities

As ICE escalates attacks across Greater Houston, we must pressure our local political leadership to end collaboration and provide resources to immigrants. While politicians fail, we'll inform people and businesses about the crisis and their rights.

RSVP Hermann Park 11/1 at 11am
RSVP Alief Park 11/1 at 12:30pm

How are LA, the labor movement, and others fighting attack on immigrants? What are the root causes of migration? Study and discuss with us this November

Uncover the real economic and political forces behind the attacks on immigrants and how to confront them. We'll begin with how and why immigrants are scapegoated, move onto the importance of worker power, and end with the importance of internationalism to fighting the deportation machine.

Read, listen, and watch the selections before attending to fully engage our discussion. You can still join to get a summary and discuss without completing everything.
