Atlanta Veteran, Juan Saro, shares his story on CNN as Soldiers’ Angels continues to support Military and Veteran families facing food insecurity.

Across the country, countless Military and Veteran families are feeling the impact of rising costs and benefit reductions—including the recent fight over SNAP benefits. Earlier this week, a local disabled Navy Veteran, father of two, and regular recipient of food assistance through Soldiers’ Angels Military and Veteran Food Distributions shared his story with CNN, shedding light on how these challenges are affecting families like his nationwide.

As families continue to navigate uncertainty, Soldiers’ Angels remains committed to ensuring no hero goes hungry. Through our Food Pantries and Military & Veteran Food Distributions in cities across the country, we’re providing groceries, essential items, and holiday food items to those in need.

Our team, volunteers, and community partners continue to stand ready to meet growing demand and provide comfort, dignity, and hope to those who have served.

Halloween may be over, but the fun doesn’t have to end! 🎃 Don't let that extra candy haunt your pantry and definitely don’t toss it—give it a new mission and donate it to Treats for Troops!

Every year, Soldiers’ Angels collects tens of thousands of pounds of excess Halloween candy and shares it with Service Members and Veterans across the country. From care packages overseas to sweet surprises at VA hospitals, your extra treats bring smiles and a little taste of home to those who serve.

It’s easy to join the fun — just visit our Candy Map [[link removed]] to find a local collection site near you! Hundreds of businesses and organizations across the country have stepped up to be candy collection sites and they are eager to take your candy and make it count.

If there is no Treats for Troops collection site near you, we welcome small personal-sized donations of excess candy (10 lbs. or less) at our headquarters office in San Antonio. If you have a large amount of candy (greater than 10 lbs.), do not ship it to San Antonio, instead, please email [[email protected]] for assistance.

Soldiers’ Angels recently hosted a Hallway Giveaway at the Columbia VA in South Carolina, sharing coffee, conversation, and gratitude with Veterans. Among those served was a 102-year-old World War II Veteran, a moving reminder of the courage and sacrifice that protect our freedom. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers for bringing smiles and connection to those who served.

Deployment is more than a mission — it’s a sacrifice of time, family, and certainty. Since World War I, millions of Americans have carried that burden to protect the freedoms we hold dear.

October 26th marked Day of the Deployed, a time to recognize the courage of every man and woman who has stepped into the unknown in service to our nation. Their dedication doesn’t end overseas — it continues on the homefront, where they bring resilience, leadership, and strength to their communities.

This day honors not only those who serve abroad, but also the families who support them from home.

Luncheon and Giveaway Support Veterans in West Palm Beach

Soldiers’ Angels recently hosted a luncheon and giveaway for Veterans in West Palm Beach, Florida, where volunteers served meals, distributed essential items, and shared meaningful conversation. The event fostered connection and reminded Veterans that they are valued, appreciated, and never forgotten.

💌 Letters from the Sickbed: One Volunteer’s Fierce Devotion to Service

At Soldiers’ Angels, some of our most inspiring volunteers serve from the quiet corners of their homes — and none embody that spirit more than Denise Bautista of Indianapolis. For 12 years, Denise has volunteered with Soldiers’ Angels, dedicating herself to writing thousands of letters and cards to Service Members and Veterans, even while battling a rare autoimmune disease that often confines her to bed.

Diagnosed as a child, Denise was once told she wouldn’t live past 25. Now 55, she manages her condition with daily medication — more than 30 pills a day — and an unwavering sense of purpose. “Writing keeps me from rotting away,” she says. “It keeps me active, productive, and gives me purpose.”

Her passion for service is deeply personal. Denise’s father, a Navy SEAL and Vietnam Veteran, returned home to a country that didn’t honor his service. That experience inspired her lifelong mission to ensure that today’s heroes feel seen, supported, and loved.

Fluent in Spanish, Denise also writes to deployed Service Members from Puerto Rico and other Spanish-speaking regions, sending more than a hundred cards each year in their native language to help them feel a little closer to home. Her efforts extend beyond letter-writing—she’s also baked, crafted, and sent care packages to chaplains serving with special ops units.

From Christmas stockings and Easter goodie bags to handwritten cards that remind deployed troops they’re not alone, Denise’s devotion proves that love and service know no limits. Her story is a testament to the spirit of Soldiers’ Angels — where every act of kindness makes a lasting impact.

On October 14–15, employees at Wells Fargo’s main office assembled more than 2,000 hygiene kits for VA hospitals, crafted 20 no-sew blankets with cards, and created 100 paracord bracelets for holiday stockings and care packages. The two-day event was part of the company’s ongoing commitment to community service, supporting Veterans and Service Members across the country.
