We’ve seen the news this last week that SNAP benefits have run out of funding, leaving hungry families without food during the month of Thanksgiving.
Food is a right, not a privilege. In one of the wealthiest countries in the world, we should not be having public discourse – started by the President and his administration – about which people deserve to eat, and which deserve to starve.
Food pantries in our state are likely to see an influx in people this month. We know Trump and his minions want to inflict as much damage as possible. So we need to step up.
If you need food: please visit. There’s no shame in accepting help, and these organizations are here to help you.
If you’re able, please consider making a donation to a food bank near you. Canned goods and non-perishables are always appreciated, but monetary contributions make a huge difference in what food banks are able to provide and are often even more valuable than food donations.
