Food Assistance, Healthcare, and Other Resources
Dear Neighbor,
I am reaching out to you with some more resources and updates about the ongoing Republican federal government shutdown, which has now lasted a full month.
On Saturday, November 1, 2025, approximately 1.1 million Massachusetts residents could lose their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits because of the Trump administration’s decision to suspend funding to SNAP—despite having the legal authority and billions of dollars in contingency funds available to fund benefits in November.
I’ve been sounding the alarm about this – demanding Trump and USDA fund SNAP in November and avoid worsening the growing crisis of food insecurity in Massachusetts. Today, a federal judge ordered the Trump Administration to do just that, and I’m urging the Administration to comply immediately.
Also this Saturday, Massachusetts residents using the Health Connector will begin open enrollment for 2026 health insurance plans. More than 300,000 Massachusetts residents, including 29,000 in the Massachusetts 7th, who get health insurance through the Health Connector will see their health care costs rise if Republicans let critical tax credits expire. This is why I’ve been fighting to save healthcare for you, your families, and millions like you across the country.
In light of these layered crises, my office has updated our shutdown resources for constituents, and below are a few additional resources related to SNAP, health care, and federal workers.

- In response to the potential SNAP Freeze, the Healey-Driscoll Administration has set up Mass.gov/SNAPFreeze.
